Lake Peekskill Woman Caught With Counterfeit Currency During Traffic Stop, Sheriff Says

A woman from Lake Peekskill is facing charges after she was caught with counterfeit currency during a traffic stop in Putnam Valley, according to the Putnam Sheriff.

Members of the Putnam Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Enforcement Unit (NEU) say they initiated a traffic stop after observing a driver commit a traffic violation in the Town of Putnam Valley on Friday, July 12.

Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Bridgette Latorre, 39, of Lake Peekskill, was in possession of concentrated cannabis, MDMA (Ecstasy) and a counterfeit bill of U.S. currency, NEU members say.

Latorre was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor (two counts)
  • Third-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a misdemeanor

Latorre is scheduled to appear in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court on a future date.
